Gee whiz! I spent two hours writing a dissertation on Classes in my world, and when I went to post it IE locked up and took the computer (and my dissertation) with it. Arggggggghhhhhhh! Trying again. CLASS NOTES (Reader's Digest CONDENSED Version) BARBARIAN - Barbarian is more an ethnic group than a class. There are NO Barbarians in Ardania. If you want a Barbarian, you'll need to make it your second character. There are LOTS of Barbarians in Alusia... the largest group is called the Horsepeople, and they are vaguely like the Mongols from Earth. BARD - Bards are called Troubadors in Ardania and are regarded as overpaid entertainers in many quarters. In Alusia Bards resemble the ones in the PHB. In the Isles Bards are revered as sacred persons. Same class all three places... just perceived differently. CLERIC - You can be a Cleric originally FROM Ardania, but you can't be an Ardanian Priest (Blackcloak) without my permission. Players who want to play Clerics should be members of the Celestial Church, or ask me about Powers they might represent. DRUID - Like Clerics, players from Ardania who want to be Druids must come to Alusia to study. [I didn't cover Druidic hierarchies very much. Each Circle is regional, and the degree to which Circles interact is pretty much a function of distance. There may be some organizational level above the regional circle, but none of the Druids who know are talking.] FIGHTER - There are a great many military units, temple champions, and orders of knighthood. Every country and church has units. Even the Western Kingdom -- Fallen Lo! these 1000 years -- still has orders of knighthood that induct new members to serve. There are no restrictions on fighters. MONK - None in Ardania. There are only two sources for Monks in my world. One is to join one of the Militant Brotherhoods of the Angelican church. The other is to be accepted by the Fianna, the warrior-protectors of the Druidic Circles. PALADIN - The ONLY way to have a Paladin at the beginning is for your character to join the Celestial Church (Angelicans) in Alusia and take the vows of the warrior priest. RANGER - Rangers are popular everywhere but Alusia. Many are associated with the Adventurers Guild. ROGUE - No restrictions. Each Guild of Thieves is an independant body based in a specific region or city. Rogues are trained in secret language and signs and etiquette to insure that they can make peaceful contact with another Guild whenever they enter a new "turf". SORCERER - Killed on sight in Ardania. Most are trained in Carzala. WIZARD - Killed on sight in Ardania. Most are trained in Carzala. | ||
