We had a terrible battle with Nathaniel and his brothers, the bastards. By the end of it, the Moonwind was afire, Skellius dead, his staff crumbled. Thank the angels, I had the scroll from the battle with the dark circle and was able to throw a fireball of enormous proportions at the boat the brothers were on. It may have come in handy later, but it felt so good to wreak ruin on those responsible for dear old Alfred's death that I don't feel that it was a waste. Yes, it was this henious group that was responsible, they had the same worn elvin arrows. I thought the cursed black robes weren't supposed to use magic. Nathaniel, the betrayer, seems not to have heard. He was clear that the church wants us stopped, that they can't have "rabble" like us becoming heroes... I fear for the other ship, which was beset as we were and aflame when last I saw it. As the Moonwind broke up, Skellius roared out "Dirao, get them to safety" or some permutation of that phrase. An enormous water elemental took the company over the water wall, it was a most frightening experience and I feared for our survival. Weighed down as we were, Stephen with the Celestial Church's huge box and I with my pack and robes, we went under a fair number of times and would have died had it not been for the valiant efforts of the rest of the party. Blackhawk saved Stephen and Raven and MacGuyver pulled me from the arms of the briney. All around us were water elementals, trying to breech the defenses of Dirao, but they were unsuccessful. We floated long, many hours, cold and hungry. We found a piece of the poop deck and a barrel of oil, which helped to keep us afloat, and lashed my blanket to the two life preservers to hold our gear. At last, we saw jagged rocks ahead. MacGuyver and I were battered upon them, but the others escaped injury. We were then thrown upon a beach, where we struggled to make a fire and find food. Raven befriended a seal who brought us some fine fish, and Blackhawk located an oyster bed and some mussels. After an exhausted sleep, Stephen healed me and I felt much better. Jeck seems mostly unphased by the whole experience, he was eyeing us rather hungrily as we floated in the water...I don't doubt that my old friend would have made a meal of me had I perished. We decided to explore our temporary home and were surprised to find a group of green slate rock structures, long and low, with pitched roof and covered in sand. At the end of one of these was a hemisphere. Raven located a lintel, a doorway surrounded with fine carved knotwork.
