 28th Day of Seedtime

We started gathering the materials to build our boat last night and it is expected to take us 2 days to construct a seaworthy craft.  MacGyver supervised the construction and Raven used her woodshape spell to mold the large 20 x 6 x 1Ú2 foot great table into a sailing ship, with an outrigger for stability, a keel and rudder for steering and paddles and sail to propel us.  Jaden spent most of his time learning the art of sewing by stitching some of the tapestries from the longhouse together and by the end of his second day had created a fine sail for our craft. BlackHawk worked on riggings but spent most of his day fishing and collecting editables for a stew Raven has been preparing during her breaks from her boat forming.

 About noon BlackHawk spotted a group of dragons circling off in the distance to the Northwest but they slowly drifted out if sight within an hour.

 MacGyver found an interesting gold coin in a crack behind one of the tapestries.  It shows the profile of a woman on one side and eagles in a knotwork on the other.

 Stephen still thinks his newly acquired torc and bracers, which are still invisible and irremovable, can let him talk to dragons even though there is no evidence of this as yet.

 29th Day of Seedtime

A surprise this morning, Snow again. After a warm sunny day yesterday the temperature dropped during the night and we were welcomed with snowfall with the first light. Stephen said he was visited by a black raven during his watch in the dark of early morning. He said the bird just looked around our camp and then left flying off to the west.

 Boat building most of the day with more water creation by Raven so we will have sufficient stores for an extended trip at sea, if need be.

 During his meditation in the late afternoon Stephen sees the raven again, Raven is near but did not notice the bird. It again looked around and flew off.

 Tomorrow morning we leave with the high tide.

 30th Day of Seedtime

Again Stephen is visited by the raven during the last watch. This time he tried to talk with the bird but he said it wasn’t a meaningful conversation; it would look like it was listening and then just caw back.  It again looked around and Stephen introduced each of the party to it while we were sleeping. It eventually took a piece of fish from our stewpot and flew off.

 As we prepare for our departure form Dirao’s Cay we placed the barrel of oil and trunk of silk in the longhouse and sealed the door as best we could.  Our inventory now includes: a stewpot, a shield, 2 crystal decanters filed with fresh water, various tankers filed with water and covered with fish skins, 4 full water skins, a flask full of oil, and a few spears.

 As we leave, our plans are to pass the south tip of the next Island (for clarification I will call it Sandy Cay) which is about 5 miles due west. If we see anything of interest we will stop but otherwise we will continue to the west.  At about 11am we passed Sandy Cay and we are able see what looks like a hill rising out of the water.  It is another Island about 20 miles out. As we get closer we see it to be tree covered with about a 700ft summit. 

 During our travel Raven was able to talk to a small dolphin who called itself Flipper.  During the conversation Raven said that it mentioned that the weather is usually warmer and that there is a large island 2 days swim to the west but it dose not have any people on it now but it did in the past. We assume a 2-day swim for a dolphin will take us about 5 to 6 days if the winds are right.

 As we near the next island we are able to see a beautiful waterfall and a lagoon to our south.  We easily make landfall at about 4 pm. in the lagoon.

 Our first task is to climb to the summit while we still have daylight to see what we can spot and where our next stop may be.  On our way us Raven finds a fern like plant she called Dragon Tail, Stephen had herd it called Mage Weed.  Raven collects some for further study.  At the top we are able to see a small group of islands about 10 miles to the West. Stephen sees what could be a building among the trees on the southwest side of the island.  MacGyver spots a large dragon flying above the island about 3 miles due north.

 Stephen again decides to try and get this dragons attention and has Jadon quickly teach him how to say hello in draconic.  As he is screaming his dam fool head off trying to get this dragons attention, (oh sorry neutral observations) Stephen finally succeeds in getting the dragons attention and it heads for us at an incredible speed. As it passes the wind from its wings knocks us all to the ground.  BlackHawk believes it is the same dragon we encountered before. Its jewelry consisting of a gold girdle and belts on both claws and what appeared to be an earring. As it passed it made a very low sound that could have been speech but no one understood it.  It did not stop or even slow and just continued to fly off.

We start to loose our light on the way down, but as we approach the boat we see what looks like the silhouette of a creature perching on it. As we cautiously approach, it greeted us by saying “Hello” in common.  An intelligent talking otter!  He asked for some fish and we gave him some leftover stew.  He thought it was great.  He said he learned to talk from his mother and that he knows of no other otters or creatures other than our type who talk as we do.  He called him self “Fare Otter”.  When asked if he knew of any other people he said he saw some a few weeks ago on the Island with the yellow flowers and silvery fish. He later described this other island as being to the west of here and consisting of two islands one with a tower and the other with a mountain. He also said that people like us don’t travel this far north because of the dragons and that Bliss is very far to the south. He wanted to hear stories and eat more fish so BlackHawk made a fire, since it looked like it was going to be a long night.  That also impressed the otter. He asked where we came from and we told him from a place called Alusia and he responded “is that where Seagate is?”(A very well learned otter indeed).  He thought he hear of the name of Maxwell Fox but could not place it.  Raven showed him the Dragon Weed upon which he immediately eat it and then proceeded to burp fairy fire. He warned that eating a lot was not a good idea.
