Company Log, 18th of Blossom, 801

I fear for us. It is the 18th of Blossom on the "Peaceful Island". If this is peaceful, I do not know how we shall survive the rest of the journey to Puddleby. It is 40 minutes into our first watch. We bedded down early since we have been up since 2 this morning. Started a fire and BlackHawk, Lia and I took the first shift. We were surprised by something Lia calls a Rockodile, nasty big lizardy thing...We had barely dispatched it when we were startled to hear Jotork yell. A poisonus snake bit him. Luckily he is strong and wasn't too badly damaged.

Later... Thank goodness for Raven's entangle spell. Four dire rats were on their way toward us but they became entangled. Lia threw something at them which produced some kind of inky cloud. She warned us not to breathe the vapors and within seconds all four rats were dead. The cloud dissapated rather quickly. I asked Lia what it was and she said simply "poison." At that point, we woke Stephen and Jotork and went to sleep.

Stephen and Jotork had quite a bad time. Well first, just as we had setltled down to rest, Lia jumped up and as she turned, we saw something that looked like a basketball with legs attached to her back. It was an ugly thing (a giant chigger, I found out later...) She managed to kill it herself. I would have helped, but was afraid I might accidentally hurt her with my sword. We once more made an effort to sleep, as Magick users, we do need a full 8 hours, and this time we were successful. Stephen and Jotork heard a sound like drumming coming from the undergrowth. It turned out to be something called an "Orga" a troll-like thing with one eye like a cyclops. It was green, enormous and had great long claws. Stephen cast a sleep spell on it and then they killed it as it slept. As they are terribly dangerous and hard to kill, Lia was most impressed. (aside from Jaden- *sigh*) The two of them were then beset by 2 dire rats, which they killed handily. Unfortunately on the heels of the rats came something called "Vermin". They are large weasle-like creatures, very strong and vicious. Stephen managed to put one to sleep, but the other savaged first Lia, then Jotork. By this time, Raven was awake and managed to damage the creature some, and then Lia killed it. She is quite an amazing girl, really. I was awakened by the screams of my companions and somewhat groggily went to kill the other vermin as it slept while Raven attended to the injured. I did manage to kill it and fell once again into an exhausted sleep. In the morning, at cock's crow, we awoke to a scene of carnage, dead dire rats, vermin, a snake, the rockodile and the orga littered the area which was saturated with the blood of all involved. Jotork and Stephen reported seeing some huge ants, who came and cut down several trees during the night.
